Workers will perform assigned duties as instructed by their supervisor. Duties may vary from time to time. Following supervisors instruction, workers will harvest, load, sort, and grade various types of fruits and vegetables. Press grown and harvested fruit for cider. Wash and sanitize all equipment.
Apple Harvest:
Following the supervisors instructions, the worker will wear a picking bucket picking proper size, and color of apple, place into bucket. Workers may need to climb a ladder while picking fruit efficiently taking care not to bruise or damage fruit. Deposit picked apples carefully in large bins. Workers will also prune apple trees as instructed using hand pruner and ladder in different weather conditions.
Peach Harvesting:
Following the supervisors instructions, the worker will wear strap and crate down each row picking proper size, and color and ripeness. Deposit peached on transport trailer in containers and repeat. Workers may need to climb a ladder while picking fruit efficiently taking care not to bruise or damage fruit. The worker will require use of hand tools such as shears and knives. This work can require standing, walking, stooping, bending and lifting up to 50 pounds for long periods of time outdoors in all weather conditions. It also includes making important decisions based on size, coloring and ripeness according to prescribed standards. This work requires adherence to important food safety and quality standard operating procedures and the ability to work quickly and consistently alongside fellow workers with a positive, professional, team-based attitude and a consideration for the safety and health of fellow workers and of the consumers who will purchase and consume the fresh produce grown, harvested, packed, and shipped from the farm.
General Farm Work:
Tasks the worker must be able to perform include: field cleanup including pulling weeds, maintain crops, tilling seed beds, clearing trees, pruning, transplanting, gathering plastic, picking up trash, farm building repair and maintenance. Lifting requirements 50 lbs., exposure to extreme temperatures, extensive pushing or pulling, extensive sitting or walking, frequent stooping or bending over, repetitive movements.
