Job Description

Ohashi Specimen Trees (OST) specializes in the sourcing and procurement of unique and special mature plantscape materials, noted for its "high quality" specimen and "focal" plantings. We have acres of fully irrigated, prepared land where a wide variety of "Specimen" grade trees, shrubs and plantings are available. We are looking for an individual that aspires to build a career, not just a job with us. We are seeking Nursery Associate who would be responsible for completing all tasks associated with the operation of the nursery and the movement & maintenance of product within the nursery and to and from projects and become a driver and possible lead. Duties and Responsibilities may include but are not limited to: Load/Unload vehicles/trucks Receiving, transplanting, staging, deliveries, pickups, transporting product and equipment to and from projects Perform landscape installation duties as directed, using proper techniques and procedures Perform physical labor techniques, safety requirements, procedures in digging, dig & transplant, handle plant &other materials, burlap twine root balls Perform proper clean up procedures, tie up branching. tree stake procedures, mulch technique and applications, planting techniques Cultivate and maintain a variety of plants at the nursery, ensuring optimal growth conditions Operate and manage irrigation systems to efficiently water plants. Perform heavy lifting and manual labor tasks to support nursery operations. Identification and tagging of plants and plant material for inventory purposes Maintain nursery grounds This is not an exhaustive or comprehensive list of all job responsibilities, tasks and duties. Qualifications Proven experience in horticulture and nursery management Strong knowledge of plant identification and care Familiarity with irrigation systems and nursery practices Ability to perform heavy lifting and manual labor Basic math skills for inventory and plant measurements Mechanical knowledge and proficiency with hand tools Working knowledge of operating equipment and tools in a safe and responsible manner Must be able to perform the physical aspects of the job; standing, lifting, reaching, pushing, pulling Must be able to frequently bend, twist, crouch, squat, kneel, stand and reach for extended periods of time Stand or walk for most of the shift, sometimes uphill and on uneven terrain often while carrying, pushing or pulling equipment, materials or debris 2 years' experience working in a nursery, landscaping or horticulture Current Washington Drivers License Ability to get approved to drive company vehicles Ability to work outdoors in cold, hot and inclement weather conditions
