Full Job Description About Us:
The Westgate Community Farm is a 1 acre urban fruit and vegetable farm serving the Westgate neighborhood of West Palm Beach. The farm offers neighbors fresh produce, education programs, and a lush community green space. The farm hosts two weekly markets on site at the farm. The Westgate Community Farm is a project of the Westgate Community Redevelopment Agency.
Position Details:
40 hours per week Start date summer 2026 Assistant Farm Manager will work directly with the Farm Manager in all aspects of growing, harvesting and selling produce. Our weekly schedule includes the following activities: Farm work including but not limited to: greenhouse seeding, field planting, weeding, mulching, maintaining perennial gardens, maintaining attractive and neat farm spaces, monitoring and controlling pests organically, miscellaneous farm chores, leading volunteers, and crop planning. Harvesting, washing and packing produce for market, maintaining harvest records
Market:
Set up beautiful market display, engage with a diverse clientele, maintain market records, oversee SNAP incentive program Equipment maintenance of hand tools, power tools, and tractor Class instruction Required qualifications and attributes: Experience working on a productive farm; a full season on a farm is preferred but not necessary Skills, experience or demonstrated interest in sustainable agriculture Familiarity and enthusiasm with growing and cooking fruits and vegetables A willing and positive attitude; ability to work efficiently with a fast and steady pace Reliability, flexibility, and willingness to take initiative Must be able to lift 40 lbs above your waist and be willing to work in all weather conditions Spanish/ English proficiency Ability to work well with a diverse group of people
Pay:
$18.00 - $20.00 per hour
