A Farm or Ranch Manager manages operations at a farm or ranch. Directs crop production and management of livestock herds and supervises farm workers who grow and harvest crops or tend to farm animals. Purchases supplies such as seed, fertilizer or animal feed, operates and repairs farm equipment, and maintains facilities. Monitors prices and adapts production as needed due to market changes, weather conditions or other factors.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities (Assistant Manager):
Animal Care and Management:
  • Monitoring herd health, identifying and treating sick or injured animals
  • Overseeing and administering vaccinations
  • Working closely with Nutritionist, Veterinarian and Feed Manager
  • Coordinating with source farms to schedule cattle movements
Breeding and Reproduction:
  • Assisting with breeding programs
  • Be or become proficient with AFI heat detection software
  • Accurate heat detection, visually and with AFI program
  • AFI collar assignments and removal
Record Keeping and Reporting:
  • Maintaining accurate records of livestock inventory, health and performance
  • Preparing weekly/monthly reports for source farms
  • Preparing weekly schedules for incoming and outgoing cattle
  • Preparing weekly vaccination and vet check schedules
  • Be or become proficient with Dairy Comp and Heifer Pro software
  • Strong organization skills
Skills and Qualifications:
Experience:
Experience in cattle ranching, animal husbandry and overall farm operations is essential.
Knowledge:
Knowledge of animal health, nutrition and breeding practices required.
Communication and Leadership:
Strong communication skills. Ability to work independently as well as with a team.

Full-time Pay:
$30,000.00
  • $45,000.
