Aquarium & Fish Store ManagerJob Overview We are seeking an experienced, passionate, and business-savvy Aquarium Manager to lead our retail aquarium store. You will be responsible for overseeing daily operations, driving sales, managing a team of aquatic enthusiasts, and—most importantly—ensuring the health and well-being of our livestock. If you have a deep knowledge of aquatic ecosystems (freshwater, saltwater, and reef setups) combined with strong retail management experience, we want you to come aboard.
Key Responsibilities Daily Operations & Sales Leadership Drive Revenue:
Meet and exceed store sales targets through excellent customer service, visual merchandising, and community engagement.
Inventory Management:
Oversee ordering, receiving, and stocking for both dry goods (tanks, filters, food) and live fish/corals/plants.
Maintain Store Appearance:
Ensure the retail floor is clean, organized, well-lit, and that all display tanks are pristine and inspirational to hobbyists.
Livestock Care & Husbandry Water Quality Management:
Monitor and maintain optimal water parameters across all systems (pH, salinity, ammonia, nitrites, nitrates, etc.).
Health & Quarantine:
Implement and oversee strict quarantine protocols for new arrivals. Diagnose and treat common fish diseases and parasites promptly.
Vendor Relations:
Coordinate with livestock wholesalers and local breeders to ensure a diverse, healthy, and ethical selection of aquatic life.
Team Leadership & Development Staff Management:
Recruit, train, schedule, and motivate a team of sales associates and maintenance technicians.
Knowledge Sharing:
Educate staff on advanced aquatic care so they can confidently assist customers from beginners to advanced reef-keepers.
Qualifications & Skills Experience:
2-4 years of retail management experience (pet industry or specialty retail preferred).
Aquatic Expertise:
Deep, practical knowledge of aquarium husbandry. You must know the difference between a cycling tank and a crashed tank, and be familiar with freshwater, marine, and reef ecosystems.
Customer-Centric:
Exceptional communication skills with a knack for troubleshooting customer tank disasters with empathy and accurate advice.
Tech-Savvy:
Proficiency with Point of Sale (POS) systems, inventory management software, and basic social media marketing.
Pay:
$22.00 - $28.00 per hour
