Job Description

Job Summary As the Indiana Creamery License Division Manager, you will oversee the licensing, inspection coordination, and regulatory compliance of creamery and dairy processing facilities, milk testers and milk samplers throughout the state of Indiana. This role ensures that licensed creameries meet all applicable dairy processing standards as stated in
IC 15-18-2.
You will provide leadership to division staff, serves as a fully competent resource on dairy regulations, and work collaboratively with producers, processors, inspectors, and partner agencies in supporting a strong Indiana dairy industry.
What You'll Be Doing:
Representing Creamery License Division at conferences, industry meetings, legislative activities, and stakeholder events Overseeing the administration and regulatory functions associated with Indiana's dairy processing industry. This includes managing licensing activities for dairy processing facilities, milk testers, and milk samplers; coordinating inspections; reviewing compliance documentation; maintaining division financials and records; administering May assessments; and providing leadership and direction to the Creamery Licensing Board members Serving as a fully competent resource on dairy regulations outlined in Indiana Code 15-18-2 and working collaboratively with producers, processors, inspectors, university personnel, and partner agencies to ensure facilities and individuals comply with all applicable state dairy processing standards. These responsibilities directly support the state's licensing and compliance framework by ensuring regulatory requirements are communicated, documented, monitored, and enforced Ensuring that all required criteria and documentation are satisfied prior to the issuance or renewal of licenses for dairy processing facilities, milk testers, and milk samplers Overseeing ongoing compliance efforts to ensure licensed entities continue to meet applicable state standards and regulatory requirements after licensure Coordinating inspections, reviewing inspection findings and compliance records, addressing deficiencies or corrective actions when necessary, and maintaining communication with regulated entities regarding licensing requirements Administering and managing the annual assessment, including record oversight, reporting, financial tracking, and ensuring assessment procedures are completed in accordance with established regulatory and administrative requirements Overseeing and participating in sample collection activities conducted during on-farm visits and industry inspections. This includes coordinating or reviewing the collection, handling, and documentation of milk and dairy-related samples to ensure proper testing procedures and regulatory standards are followed Serving on the Dept. of Animal Sciences' ASREC Dairy Unit committee Participating in departmental undergraduate mentoring programs and providing feedback to undergraduates on career activities Other operational duties as assigned
What We're Looking For:
Bachelors of Science in Animal Science or closely related field 2 years of general farm experience In lieu of degree, an equivalent combination of education and experience may also be considered (Associates + 4 years of experience;
HS/GED + 6
years of experience) Basic Computer Skills and data entry using Outlook, Excel, Google Docs, mail merge, etc. Strong communication skills Exceptional interpersonal skills to provide good customer service, demonstrating a strong service orientation and dairy knowledge Public relations skills to work congenially with the industry, public, and staff, display a good-natured and cooperative attitude Must frequently lift over 35lbs.
