Aquatic Specialist Apet inc. - 3.4 East Dundee, IL Job Details Full-time From $16 an hour 18 hours ago Benefits Paid holidays Health insurance Dental insurance 401(k) Vision insurance Qualifications Moving Full Job Description Well-established and growing company is seeking an Aquatic Specialist for its facility in East Dundee, IL. This position is responsible for identifying, inspecting, sorting, receiving, and feeding fish in our freshwater department. The ideal candidate will be available to work Monday through Wednesday (30 hours), with the opportunity to work up to 40 hours by adding shifts on Thursday and Friday.
Monday:
5:00pm-11:00pm
Tuesday:
11:00am-11:00pm
Wednesday:
10:00am - 11:00pm
Thursday & Friday:
Open, based on fish shipments.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • In accordance with Apet's Pledge of Care, responds to the critical needs of all aquatic animals providing the proper and appropriate care.
  • Assists customers with inquiries and selection of fish in a courteous and professional demeanor.
  • Identifies fish and properly receives them into our systems.
  • Visually inspects fish for quality issues.
  • Feeds the appropriate foods to all aquatic life and maintains clean habitats and filtration systems.
  • Maintains a safe working environment, keeping all aisle ways and work areas clear.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Skills and Qualifications:
  • Maintains safe and compassionate animal handling practices, at all times, while performing job duties.
  • Ability to multi-task and operate with a sense of teamwork.
  • Willingness to learn about all aspects of the animal care industry, including knowledge of fish care and on-site operations.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule.
Physical Demands:
  • Employee is frequently and regularly required to lift and carry 10-20 pounds frequently, and occasionally in excess of 50 pounds. Employee is frequently and regularly required to stoop, kneel or bend. The ability to sit and/or stand for long periods of time is required.
  • The ability to transport, handle and place fish/animals in their enclosures or items on shelves throughout the warehouse is required.
  • Employee must be able to move fish and other goods that are received, including pushing, pulling, pending, knelling, and twisting.
  • In performing duties, employee is regularly required to use hands to grasp; and to reach with hands and arms, at or above shoulder level.
  • Ability to work in a moderately noisy environment.
