Job Description

LDWF supports a strong work ethic in its employees and incorporates the use of good science, accurate information and technology. The Office of Wildlife exists to provide wise stewardship of Louisiana's wildlife and associated habitats and increase wildlife conservation awareness.
WILDLIFE AND FISHERIES TECHNICIAN A-C/ SHERBURNE
This position will perform daily operations primarily on WMAs within region, and elsewhere as needed. This position requires the physical ability to operate boats, ATV/UTVs, tractors, motor-grader, and other heavy equipment. Physical demands are moderate to strenuous physical exertion is required for such activities as climbing, lifting objects over 50 pounds, crouching or crawling in restricted areas or in inclement weather. Periodically working irregular hours including weekend work, overnight stay, and early morning departure as well as day and night work in boats and airboats is required. May be subject to 24-hour call. No experience or training is required. The official job specifications for this role, as defined by the State Civil Service, can be found here .
Job Duties:
Participates in necessary construction and maintenance activities on department buildings, grounds, roads, levees, equipment, camping areas, and water control structures Participates in management activities including planting food plots, conducting prescribed burns, boundary marking, and managed hunts Collects data used in establishing management or research programs and setting regulations Participates in lethal and nonlethal collection and sampling of wildlife species for management and research Transports injured or nuisance animals Performs any other duties as directed and necessary for the agency to accomplish its mission Requires the physical ability to operate boats, ATV/UTVs, tractors, motor-grader, and other heavy equipment.
