Job Description

Job Summary The Ranch Hand supports the Ranch Operations Manager in the daily physical operation and maintenance of the ranch property. This role focuses on hands-on labor including grounds maintenance, livestock care, equipment operation, facility upkeep, and event support. The Ranch Hand helps ensure that ranch infrastructure, animals, and facilities remain safe, functional, and well maintained. This position requires physical stamina, mechanical aptitude, and the ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions while assisting with the operational needs of the foundation. Duties Assist with maintenance of ranch roads, trails, and driveways including grading and gravel distribution. Support erosion control, drainage improvements, and culvert maintenance. Repair fencing, gates, and livestock enclosures. Assist with landscaping, brush clearing, tree removal, and irrigation repairs. Perform general repairs including carpentry, minor plumbing, and facility upkeep. Security & Property Oversight Assist with routine property checks to help deter trespassing or unauthorized activity. Report security concerns, safety hazards, or infrastructure issues to the Ranch Operations Manager. Assist with seasonal monitoring during hunting season or periods of increased activity. Event Support & Guest Services Assist with event setup, breakdown, and logistics for foundation programs and guest activities. Help maintain cleanliness of cabins, restrooms, and guest facilities. Support guest arrivals and departures when needed. Assist in maintaining campground areas and recreational facilities. Equipment Operation & Maintenance Operate ranch equipment including tractors, skid steers, ATVs, and trucks. Assist with preventative maintenance including oil changes, lubrication, and equipment cleaning. Support mechanical repairs under the direction of the Ranch Operations Manager. Maintain tools and equipment in safe working condition. Animal Care Assist with feeding, watering, and daily care of ranch animals. Clean stalls, maintain animal shelters, and ensure adequate bedding and feed storage. Assist with basic health monitoring and report concerns to management. Support routine livestock operations including vaccinations, hoof care assistance, and animal handling Experience Required Qualifications & Skills Education & Experience Experience with ranch work, agriculture, landscaping, or outdoor labor preferred. Basic familiarity with livestock handling and ranch equipment beneficial. Previous experience in maintenance or construction is helpful but not required. Technical & Operational Skills Ability to safely operate basic ranch equipment and power tools. Basic mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting ability. Knowledge of fencing, landscaping, and property maintenance practices.
