Job Description

Job Summary The BCA is seeking motivated, customer-focused individuals to join our team as Part-Time Arena Attendants . This position plays a key role in ensuring a safe, welcoming, and well-maintained environment at our year-round community ice arena. If you enjoy working with the public, being hands-on, and supporting recreational activities like hockey, figure skating, and public skate, this is a great opportunity to be part of the action! Position Summary Arena Attendants assist in the daily operation and maintenance of the community ice arena, equipment, and grounds. This includes everything from ice installation and resurfacing to customer service and facility safety. Attendants help create a positive experience for skaters, athletes, families, and visitors by providing high-quality ice conditions, reliable facility support, and friendly assistance. Key Responsibilities Operate and maintain ice resurfacing equipment to ensure high-quality ice conditions for hockey, figure skating, and public skating. Perform routine maintenance on rink equipment, refrigeration systems, and facility lighting/sound systems. Monitor public skating sessions, assist with ticket sales, make public announcements, and provide basic first aid when needed. Open and close the facility, ensuring safety and security protocols are followed. Provide excellent customer service by assisting patrons, answering questions, and ensuring a safe and enjoyable environment for all visitors. Support a clean, safe, and welcoming arena through daily tasks and teamwork with fellow staff. Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Previous experience in facility or recreational maintenance a plus, but not required. Ability to perform manual tasks safely and effectively for extended periods. Strong communication and teamwork skills with the ability to work well with colleagues and the public. Ability to follow written and oral instructions. Special Requirements Must have or be able to obtain a valid driver's license. Availability to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
