Job Description

Utah Valley University is seeking a student to work at the Climbing Wall in the Student Life and Wellness Center. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Work climbing times as scheduled, facilitate special groups, assist in clinics, and teach patrons. Work independently and have responsibilities for the entire facility during operating hours including wall and front control station. Process participant paper work, check-in, belay checks, lead tests, correction when needed, visual and walk through inspections. Perform opening and closing procedures. Perform constant safety monitoring of all wall users and enforce proper technique and safety policies. Operate POS system, cash register, and membership software efficiently. Perform other job related duties as assigned. Demonstrate exceptional customer service by maintaining professional and friendly attitude toward all climbing wall patrons. Must be a current UVU student with graduation from high school or equivalent and experience with the basics of rock climbing. Zmi Knowledge:
Current best practices as set forth by the management and Climbing Wall Association.
Skills:
Proficient in knot tying, belaying, and familiar with proper climbing form and technique.
Abilities to:
Teach wall users proper safety techniques and policies. Enforce safety policies. Maintain a professional and clean working environment.
