Driver's License Full Job Description Description:
This role supports the Christ House mission by helping provide nutritious meals to men experiencing homelessness and acute medical conditions. As part of the culinary team, the position also advances the department's goals of utilizing surplus food, promoting local agriculture, reducing food waste, and supporting environmental sustainability.
Key Responsibilities:
Pickup & Transport:
Shop for seasonal food items. Safely transport food items back to Christ House.
Food Safety, Storage & Handling:
Sort, label, and store all food items properly. Follow all ServSafe and local food safety regulations when handling, transporting, and storing food. Coordinate with Christ House culinary staff to ensure food donations are properly received, sorted, and stored.
Community Engagement:
Represent the organization positively, and foster relationships with Food Rescue volunteers, and partner organizers.
Requirements:
Qualities & Skills:
Must be available to work every Sunday. Knowledge of food safety standards and willingness to complete ServSafe certification are required. Reliable transportation to travel between Farmer's Market and work site is required. A valid driver's license is required. Physical stamina to work outdoors in varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, and other inclement weather. Must be able to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds. Previous retail, customer service, or farmer's market experience a plus. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
