This role is a great opportunity to join a skilled, supportive team dedicated to high-quality work and the larger mission of the forest preserve. This field position assists with the maintenance of the district's natural areas, ecology, volunteer programs, and native plant nursery to improve the quality of life for all DuPage County residents. Compensation $26.65 to $30.00 per hour, depending on experience. The position includes a comprehensive and generous benefits package featuring: Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund (IMRF) pension program Tuition Reimbursement Health, Dental, and Vision Insurance Paid Holidays, Vacation, and Sick Time Life Insurance Deferred Compensation options About the Role We are looking for a team-player with 1-3 years of natural resource management experience, including pickup truck and trailer operation. Current Illinois Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) preferred. This field position requires experience with methods and equipment used to suppress exotic and invasive species while promoting biodiversity. The role participates in prescribed fire crews and pest control programs, utilizing various techniques including herbicide applications and equipment such as tractors equipped with forestry mulcher, skid steer/rubber tracked loaders and chainsaws. Schedule Schedule is Monday - Friday 6:30 am to 2:30 pm. Key Qualifications Must be 18 years of age or older at the time of hire. 1-3 years related experience and knowledge of native and invasive flora identification 1-3 years related experience operating pickup trucks and trailers, Illinois Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with tanker and airbrakes endorsement within 6 months of employment. IL Department of Agriculture Pesticide Operator's License within 6 months of employment. National Wildfire Coordinating Group (NWCG) I-100, S-130, and S-190 within one year of employment.
