Job Description:
Assists the Natural Resource Manager in the supervision of JCPRD-wide natural resource management goals. Applies the necessary adaptive management techniques to sustain and restore natural areas. Identifies invasive species and assists in the development of management plans. Assumes limited managerial duties in absence of the resource manager. Prioritize and delegates assignments to part-time resource technicians. Completes all tasks ensuring proper stewardship for JCPRD's budgetary and land resources. Stays informed on natural resource management practices through study and attendance of workshops and conferences. Exemplifies proper safety procedures and trains seasonal staff of the same. Operates vehicles and equipment as required to maintain the natural resources within JCPRD properties. Represents JCPRD through positive interactions with the public, outside vendors, general contractors, outside agencies, etc. Responds to public demands and inquiries in a professional and courteous manner. Selects and uses appropriate contractors, vendors, and agencies, etc. Promotes natural resource protection through day-to-day local and regional contacts, presentations, and special events. Completes and approves paperwork, timesheets, work orders, and equipment logs using computerized system; follows purchasing card guidelines and completes approval process. Minimum Job Requirements:
The Natural Resource Technician assists with carrying out natural resource management activities across all JCPRD regions. Conducts prescribed fires under the supervision of the Natural Resource Manager. Participates in invasive plant control, herbicide application, and chainsaw work. Hauls, transports, and operates equipment necessary to conduct natural resource management activities including tractors, UTVs, skid steers, and agricultural implements such as discs, drills, and sprayers. High school diploma or equivalent. Associate's degree in natural resource management preferred.
Physical, Environmental, and Special Working Conditions:
Sensory abilities, including special vision and/or hearing.
Excessive standing and/or walking:
50 % Exposure to extreme temperatures. Exposure to fumes and/or chemicals. Exposure to heights. Exposure to loud noises. Lifting 50 lbs. Weather essential job All County employees may be called upon to assist other departments in a declared emergency situation. Uniform Required Travel required 25% local and 5% outside of county. JCPRD requires reference/background screening for all positions. Specified criteria may vary by Department .
