Job Description

Searching for an opportunity to gain conservation experience and explore the outdoors with a focus in gulf and coastal restoration? The American YouthWorks - Louisiana Conservation Corps (AYW LaCC) is looking to fill GulfCorps Crew Leader and Member openings for the 2026-2027 term year! AYW Conservation Corps is a part of the GulfCorps Initiative - For the upcoming season we are looking for dedicated young adults to work with us! LaCC provides members with hands-on opportunities, extensive training in conservation and coastal restoration, and the freedom to develop personally and professionally. The LaCC GulfCorps program is based out of Baton Rouge, LA and aims to empower young people through conservation, education, service, and job training. Funded through NOAA, this crew helps to restore public lands a preserves throughout the state of Louisiana while developing skills needed to succeed in their future endeavors. Participants engage in hands-on projects on public lands, coastal regions, and occasionally in disaster areas. In this program the primary focus is gulf and coastal restoration with the potential to conduct prescribed burns. Crews will receive training and education on how prescribed burns impact the environment with Wildland Fire Trainings. There are also structured professional development for future career expansion and exploration after the gulf corps program!

CST COMPENSATION
(Monthly Living Allowance):
Crew Leaders:
$2,720 per month ($1,360 biweekly)
Crew Members:
$2,400 per month ($1,200 biweekly)

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Frequently required to walk and hike over long distances while carrying tools Ability to operate tools Heavy lifting, bending, and carrying up to 35-50• pounds (•depending on crew type) Walking and working on steep or uneven terrain Ability to work long days in adverse weather conditions Depending on crew type, ability to hitch, camp, and travel throughout the duration of an entire AmeriCorps term
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or GED US Citizenship or lawful permanent US Resident Ability to pass a National Service Criminal History Check (NSCHC) Additional experience and qualifications for Crew Leaders Clean 3-year Driving Record 3-5 months of previous conservation experience (ex: chainsaws, habitat restoration, invasive species removal, trail work) View more qualifications on our website by clicking here!
