A Forest or Conservation Technician works with foresters and conservation scientists to help maintain forests and natural areas. Tracks data on water, soil, disease and insect damage in forest areas; tracks wildlife and maintain trails or campsites; monitors timber and logging activity; patrols and assists with forest fire prevention measures; provides information to the public on forest or natural areas conservation .
Overview We are looking for a motivated, dependable Equipment Operator/Restoration Technician to join our growing team. This is an outdoor, hands-on position focused on improving wildlife habitat through forestry, invasive species management, native grass establishment, prescribed fire, and food plot installation. If you enjoy operating equipment, working outdoors, hunting, conservation, and seeing the results of your work on the landscape, we'd love to hear from you. Responsibilities Operate ASV forestry mulchers for invasive tree and brush removal. Operate tractors, skid steers, Kubota UTVs, seed drills, and other equipment safely and efficiently. Install CRP seedings, native prairie plantings, and wildlife food plots. Perform chainsaw work for timber stand improvement and habitat enhancement. Apply herbicides using backpack sprayers and UTV-mounted sprayers. Assist with prescribed burns, including firebreak preparation, ignition, and mop-up. Perform routine equipment inspections, maintenance, and cleaning. Load, transport, and unload equipment and materials. Follow all safety procedures while working around equipment, chainsaws, chemicals, and fire. Work closely with crew members to complete projects on schedule while maintaining high-quality workmanship. Preferred Qualifications We're looking for candidates with experience in one or more of the following: Tractor operation Skid steer or ASV operation Chainsaw operation Prescribed fire Herbicide application CRP establishment or native prairie restoration Wildlife habitat management Food plot installation Forestry or land management Knowledge of deer behavior, habitat improvement, and hunting trends A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) is preferred but not required.
