Duties:
The incumbent will work with and under the direction of the District Timber Management Officer, acting as advisor, and mentor. The incumbent will provide field-based services in active forest management activities including reforestation, integrated vegetation-fuels reduction, and timber sale preparation tasks associated with the Program of Work. Provides sale prep assistance including the marking and cruising of timber, layout and area determination of harvest units, logging systems identification and analysis, temporary road needs, and landings identification. 30% Technical expertise and services will involve mentoring foresters on site assessments, contract inspections, forestry practices, equipment use, and monitoring protocols. Mentors forest employees and shares institutional knowledge. 30% Assists District Timber Management Officer and Sale Prep Foresters in timber sale/stewardship contract preparation. 20% Works with partners and contractors to implement active forest management projects on the forest. Serves as an inspector on contracts. 20%
Qualifications:
Minimum of 20 year(s) of experience OR AA Degree Prefer US Forest Service experience
