Job Description
Job Summary Job Overview The City of Marinette Department of Public Works is hiring a Forester to manage and maintain the City's urban forest, parks, and right-of-way tree population. This role offers the opportunity to make a visible impact in the community by helping keep our parks, neighborhoods, and public spaces safe, healthy, and beautiful.
Responsibilities Plan and perform forestry, arboriculture, and landscape maintenance activities including tree planting, pruning, removals, and inspections.
Operate equipment and perform public interaction related to tree management.
Supervise crews, coordinate contractors, and assist with grant projects.
Respond to storm or emergency events as required.
Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Forestry, Natural Resources, or a related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience).One to two years of related experience preferred.
Valid Wisconsin Commercial Driver's License (CDL).Ability to obtain aerial lift certification and Wisconsin Commercial Pesticide Applicator License.
Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions and perform physical labor.
Residency Must establish residency within thirty (30) miles of the jurisdictional boundary of the City of Marinette in the State of Wisconsin within six months of hire.
Selection Process This position will remain active until the City is able to fill the role.
