Field Geotechnical Drilling Assistant and Soil Technician (Seasonal)

Job Summary:

Are you looking for a hands-on summer role that splits time between the great outdoors and a technical soil lab environment? We are a small, fast-paced residential geotechnical engineering firm looking for a hardworking, reliable team member. In this role, you will get a full look at the geotechnical process. Starting with going out on residential job sites assisting our drill crew in collecting soil samples. Then processing the soil through our laboratory, according to ASTM standards to help our engineering team design foundations. The position will last through the summer and end date depends on work load.

Responsibilities:

Field:

Assist the Drill Crew Lead with rig setup, handling augers, driving sampling tools, and safely collecting/labeling soil samples. In the

Lab:

Run standard soil tests (Moisture Content, Sieve Analysis, Atterberg Limits) following ASTM and internal company standards.

Site Care:

Help maintain a clean, organized laboratory and ensure field equipment and vehicles are clean and ready for the next day.

Safety:

Maintain a safety-first mindset on every job site, keeping an eye out for hazards and protecting client properties.

Qualifications:

Experience:

Previous soil testing, construction, or drilling experience is a plus, but not required . We are fully willing to train someone with the right attitude (this is a great role for Civil Engineering or Geology students!).

License:

Valid Driver's License with a clean driving record.

Physical Fitness:

Ability to lift up to 50 lbs regularly, handle physical labor, and work outdoors in variable summer weather conditions.

Working Hours:

Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM•4:30 PM Occasional overtime

Pay Range:

$18•$22 per hour (depending on experience)
