Summary We are seeking a dedicated and passionate individual to coach our High School Cross Country team for the upcoming season. The ideal candidate will inspire and motivate student-athletes to achieve their personal best while fostering a positive and inclusive team environment. This seasonal position requires a commitment to developing athletic skills, promoting teamwork, and ensuring the overall well-being of the students. Responsibilities
- Plan and conduct daily practice sessions, focusing on skill development, endurance training, and team strategy.
- Develop and implement a season-long training plan tailored to the abilities and goals of the team members.
- Organize and oversee participation in cross country meets, including travel arrangements and logistics.
- Monitor and assess the physical and mental well-being of student-athletes, providing guidance and support as needed.
- Foster a positive team culture that emphasizes sportsmanship, respect, and collaboration among athletes.
- Communicate regularly with athletes, parents, and school administration regarding team progress, schedules, and expectations.
- Maintain accurate records of attendance, performance, and any disciplinary actions.
- Promote safety and adherence to school policies and regulations during practices and competitions.
- Assist in the recruitment of new team members and promote the cross country program within the school and community. Requirements
- Previous coaching experience in cross country or a related sport is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of cross country training techniques and race strategies.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire young athletes.
- Ability to work collaboratively with school staff, parents, and the community.
- First Aid and CPR certification is preferred or must be obtained prior to the start of the season.
- A commitment to the academic and personal development of student-athletes.
- Flexibility to work evenings and weekends for practices and competitions.
- High school diploma or equivalent; a degree in physical education, sports management, or a related field is a plus.
- Must pass background checks as required by school district policies.
