Detention Pond Technician We are seeking a skilled Detention Pond Technician to join our Austin, TX team. The ideal candidate will have experience in general landscaping duties (mowing, trimming, blowing) as well as excavation and regrading with shovel or mini-skid steers (Dingos and Bobcats).

It ALL begins with the employees hired to provide a professional level of service in the field, or at the office. Key Responsibilities Perform routine monthly maintenance. Execute vegetation management, trash removal, and debris clearing to maintain City of Austin compliance. Operate specialized field equipment. Use commercial mowers, heavy-duty weed eaters, and blowers safely in demanding outdoor environments. Clear functional drainage structures. Inspect, clean, and repair concrete pilot channels, inflow/outflow structures, trash racks, and weir structures. Implement erosion control measures. Install silt fencing, rock berms/trickle channels, and erosion control blankets to stabilize shifted pond slopes. Conduct heavy site remediation. Restore neglected ponds by excavating silt, clearing overgrown brush, and rebuilding slopes to original design grades. Manage native and invasive vegetation. Identify and remove invasive species while preserving native plants crucial for local bio-filtration. Document and report site conditions. Capture clear before-and-after photos.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent Authorized to work in the US and able to provide I-9 documentation Valid driver's license and/or access to reliable transportation Experienced working in a team and accepting direction in order to achieve a daily schedule
Preferred Qualifications:
Bi-lingual Prior knowledge of operating light landscaping equipment Valid driver's license with experience driving to and from work sites Ability to operate light and heavy machinery (Bobcats, skid steers, and mini excavators); validated equipment certifications qualify for an increased initial wage. Demonstrate truck and trailer proficiency. Drive and maneuver a company truck and trailer safely; this unrequired skill may qualify for an increased initial wage. Possess environmental/safety credentials. Active TCEQ stormwater or OSHA safety certifications may qualify for an increased initial wage.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to stand, sit, use of hands to handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms. Ability to lift and/ or move up to 50 pounds. Ability to squat, bend, twist, push/pull. Ability to stand/walk for long periods. Work in extreme environments outdoors throughout the season.
