Job Summary:
The R&D Workshop Lead Technician will work in our new product development hub in Bellingham, Washington. The position has a wide range of duties including assembly and maintenance of test bikes, managing workshop supplies and inventory, shipping and receiving, on-site event logistics, and community engagement. The Shimano development hub is a small team of product managers working full time in Bellingham with frequent visitors from Shimano Japan, OEM bike brands, sponsored athletes, and test riders. The product development workshop manager will be an active participant in the product development process. They will install, measure, and service all prototype components on test bikes. They will also share a role in test riding and feedback from both a rider and mechanic's point of view. Additionally, they should be an active member of the Bellingham riding and mechanic community and help represent the local voice in product development discussions. The workshop manager will also act as host and logistics lead for events held at the office. As managers of the workshop, they will maintain their own workstation, several other open work benches, suspension service station, wheel building station, shipping station, plus organization and storage of spare parts, supplies, and bikes.

Experienced Essential Duties/ Responsibilities:
Procuring, assembling, maintaining, diagnosing, repairing, measuring and cleaning Shimano s fleet of mountain bikes (analog and EMTB) to a high level of functionality Managing workshop inventory General workshop organization and upkeep Reporting feedback from users, athletes, retailers, teams, OE partners and SCL experience to Shimano Product team Hosting Shimano employees, media, retailers and OE partners for test events Be a member of local MTB community Responsibilities will likely expand and/or shift as the role of the Shimano Bellingham Development Hub evolves
Qualifications:
Highly experienced in technical service of modern mountain bicycles--professional level race tech experience preferred Experience with product from all major MTB component manufacturers Experience with EMTB (mechanical and electronic) 3+ years bicycle industry experience Active and passionate cyclist Proficient in Microsoft Office including
Excel, PowerPoint, Word Education:
High School Diploma or related experience
