Cannabis Specialist PTCE, Inc Fife, WA Job Details Full-time From $25 an hour 23 hours ago Qualifications Customer communication High school diploma or GED Retail store experience Clinical confidentiality policies Full Job Description The Cannabis Specialist provides exceptional customer service, product guidance, and cannabis education to both recreational and medical patients. This role is responsible for creating a welcoming, professional, and service-oriented environment while ensuring compliance with all company policies, tribal and state cannabis regulations and policies, and medically endorsed retail requirements. The Cannabis Specialist supports patients and customers by delivering knowledgeable recommendations, promoting safe and informed cannabis use, and maintaining the highest standards of operational excellence, confidentiality, and regulatory compliance. Essential Duties and Areas of Responsibilities Provide exceptional customer service to recreational customers and medical cannabis patients in a professional, welcoming, and respectful manner. Educate customers and patients on cannabis products, including cannabinoids, terpenes, consumption methods, dosage considerations, storage and product safety. Assist medical patients by providing guidance within the scope permitted under applicable law and medically endorsed retail regulations. Verify customer age, identification, and medical authorization documentation in accordance with cannabis regulations. Enter patient and designated provider information from the authorization form into the medical cannabis registry and create the medical cannabis recognition card. Maintain a strong working knowledge of cannabis products, inventory, brands, and current industry trends. Accurately process sales transactions using the point-of-sale (POS) system while handling cash and electronic payments responsibly. Ensure compliance with all company policies, applicable Washington State Liquor and Cannabis Board (LCB) and Department of Health regulations, and medically endorsed retail requirements. Maintain patient confidentiality and handle sensitive information with professionalism and discretion. Promote a positive, team-oriented work environment through effective communication, professionalism, and collaboration. Assist with inventory management duties, including stocking, labeling, organizing displays, and monitoring product expiration dates. Maintain cleanliness, organization, and presentation standards throughout the retail and medical areas of the store. Respond to customer questions, concerns, and product inquiries in a knowledgeable and solution-oriented manner. Monitor the sales floor and report any compliance, safety, or security concerns to management promptly. Participate in ongoing training related to cannabis products, compliance standards, patient care, and customer service. Support store operations and management with additional duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Must be at least 21 years of age Must be able to pass a background check. High school diploma or equivalent required. Must have an active medical cannabis consultant certificate or must successfully apply and receive the medical cannabis consultant certificate. Must be CPR certified or have the ability to become certified upon hire. Must have at least one year of experience working as a Budtender or the equivalent. Strong knowledge of cannabis products, cannabinoids, terpenes, consumption methods, and industry trends preferred. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills. Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise professionalism when handling sensitive patient or customer information. Basic understanding of Washington State Liquor and Cannabis Board (LCB) regulations and medically endorsed retail requirements preferred.
Additional Qualifications:
Experience with cannabis compliance audits and recordkeeping. Proven ability to build long-term customer relationships. Experience meeting retail performance metrics while maintaining compliance. Bilingual or multilingual communication skills.
Language Skills:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business documents, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from customers and other staff. Mathematical Skills Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole number, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute ratio and percent and interpret graphs. Reasoning Ability Ability to identify problems, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret technical instructions in various forms. Physical Demands Ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time. Reach with hands and arms and may be required to lift a minimum of 50 pounds. Working Conditions This is a normal retail store setting; noise levels range from quiet to loud but are usually moderate.
