A Landscaping or Grounds Supervisor supervises the staff that provide landscaping for residences, parks, public gardens, college campuses or building or office park grounds. Supervises work to care for plants and trees, including mowing, trimming and planting, and work to repair driveways, walks, benches or other structures. Oversees equipment maintenance and transportation, and communicates with residential customers.
The Landscape Maintenance Foreman is responsible for overseeing the efficient maintenance of high-end residential properties. In this role, you will lead a crew, ensuring the proper care of landscapes, including turf cutting, trimming, and blowing using power equipment. Additionally, you will prune shrubs and small trees to enhance growth or remove damaged branches. You will supervise the crew to ensure safety protocols are always followed. The Foreman will also conduct weekly inspections, complete job site checklists, and maintain a professional, friendly demeanor when interacting with clients and visitors.
Required Skills and Abilities:
Strong leadership skills with experience managing crews. Ability to thrive and multi-task in a fast-paced environment. Proficiency in operating a variety of lawn care machinery, such as mowers, edgers, and backpack blowers. Expertise in using hand and power equipment safely, including saws and cutters. Experience in operating vehicles, with or without trailers. Capable of performing physical tasks, including heavy lifting, pushing, pulling, and gripping tools for pruning. Ability to safely lift and move landscaping equipment and materials (e.g., backpack blowers, mulch containers, lawnmowers) weighing over 50 pounds.
Education and Experience:
Minimum of 5 years of experience supervising landscape maintenance crews. Bilingual in Spanish is a plus. Valid Driver's License and a clean driving record.
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:
Exposure to various environmental elements, including extreme temperatures, dust, fumes, noise, and odors. Requires continuous physical activity, such as bending, stooping, and twisting. Must be able to lift, push, or pull objects exceeding 50 pounds.
