Job Description

The Springfield-Greene County Park Board is seeking a qualified, motivated candidate to fill our Senior Parks Caretaker openings. The Senior Parks Caretaker will serve as a working leader supervising the day-to-day operations of full-time, temporary and/or seasonal staff in the specialized care and maintenance of turf, trees, shrubs, grounds, buildings, facilities, and equipment demanded by more complex park assignments. The Parks Department employees Senior Parks Caretakers at several of our parks locations. Locations include; Cooper Baseball Sports Complex, Nathanael Greene/Close Memorial Park, Killian Sports Complex, Meador Sports Complex, Ewing Sports Complex, and Jordan Valley Park The hours will vary with evening and weekend work required frequently during the softball season. The schedule can vary depending on the assignment.

Experience, Education, and Training Two years of experience in general maintenance of commercial grounds with some experience over sports complexes/ball fields or specialized horticulture park or related work environmental depending on departmental assignment. Due to the Senior Parks Caretaker position serving in both the Turf Management and Landscape/Forestry sections of Parks, candidate experience must be commensurate with current vacancy. Licensing/Certification Must take and pass, at minimum, the written portion of the Commercial Drivers License (CDL) exam (permit) within 90 days of hire. A class "B" CDL, at minimum, must then be obtained within the probationary period. Some assignments require the driver to have the ability to operate a vehicle with airbrakes; A pesticide applicator's license is preferred but not required.
