Job Description

Overview We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Grounds Superintendent to lead and oversee all aspects of day to day operations, grounds maintenance, landscape management, and outdoor project execution as well as customer relations. In this vital role, you will be responsible for managing and ensuring the health and beauty of outdoor spaces along with helping current and prospective lot owners with questions and services, such as sales of lots. Your leadership will help create a vibrant, well-maintained environment that enhances the overall aesthetic and functionality of our properties. Must be flexible with hours to be responsive to customer needs and maintain the cemetery grounds in dignified condition. Responsibilities 1. Engagement with customers to complete grave sales and niche sales. Record location of all sales. Give new owners a copy of the rules and a receipt (with copy of the receipt to the Secretary for electronic backup). Give all income to the Secretary at least once per month for deposit at the bank. 2. Maintain established relationships with funeral homes to schedule interments. Open grave & niche sites in a timely manner. Record location of all interments. Give copy of the NYS Interment Form to the Secretary for electronic backup. 3. Maintain all equipment in good working order. 4. Maintain Cemetery buildings and grounds in dignified condition, including mowing, landscaping, tree maintenance, snow removal, etc. 5. Knowledge of New York Cemetery Law to provide accurate information to lot & niche owners when addressing lot owner concerns. Use Forms approved by North Ridge Burial Association Inc when families request burials, designations, or transfers. 6. Report to the Board President, and implement Board of Trustees policies, attend Board Meetings, maintain official records, interface with Secretary and Treasurer regarding records management and day to day operations. 7. Supervise part time workers, including training and scheduling, and reporting hours worked for payroll. Qualifications Proven experience in grounds maintenance or landscaping with a strong background in lawn care and outdoor work environments. Knowledge of New York Cemetery Law to provide accurate information to lot & niche owners when addressing lot owner concerns. Use Forms approved by North Ridge Burial Association Inc when families request burials, designations, or transfers. Supervising experience leading teams in outdoor settings; capable of managing crew management tasks effectively. Demonstrated ability to operate and maintain grounds maintenance equipment safely and efficiently; experience with gardening tools and landscaping machinery is essential. Strong leadership qualities with excellent communication skills Valid driver's license; adherence to safety guidelines is mandatory. Physical stamina for outdoor work in various weather conditions; ability to perform manual labor as needed for grounds upkeep. Construction experience related to landscaping or outdoor improvements is preferred.
