Lead Gardener Carmel Point Landscapes Carmel-by-the-Sea, CA Job Details Full-time $25 - $35 an hour 3 days ago Qualifications Plant identification Outdoor work Trimming (gardening technique) Driver's License Horticulture Tree pruning Plant disease identification Manual handling Managing horticultural teams Full Job Description Position Overview We are seeking an experienced and dependable Lead Gardener to oversee landscape maintenance operations and ensure the health, appearance, and quality of residential and commercial properties. The ideal candidate will possess strong horticultural knowledge, leadership skills, and a commitment to delivering exceptional landscape care. Key Responsibilities Lead and supervise gardening and landscape maintenance crews. Perform and oversee planting, pruning, fertilization, irrigation management, weed control, and general garden maintenance. Monitor the health of trees, shrubs, lawns, and ornamental plants, identifying and addressing pest, disease, and nutrient issues. Train team members on proper horticultural practices, safety procedures, and equipment operation. Coordinate daily work schedules and ensure projects are completed efficiently and to company standards. Conduct property inspections and communicate maintenance recommendations to management and clients. Operate and maintain landscaping equipment and tools. Ensure compliance with company safety policies and industry best practices. Assist with seasonal landscape enhancements, installations, and renovations. Qualifications Minimum of 3 years of professional gardening, landscape maintenance, or horticulture experience. Previous supervisory or crew leadership experience preferred. Strong knowledge of plant identification, pruning techniques, irrigation systems, pest management, and seasonal maintenance practices. Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple properties or projects. Excellent communication and leadership skills. Reliable transportation and a valid driver's license with a clean driving record. Physical Requirements Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions. Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and perform physically demanding tasks throughout the workday. Preferred Qualifications Horticulture, arboriculture, or landscape industry certifications are a plus. Experience with irrigation troubleshooting and repair. Bilingual (English/Spanish) communication skills are beneficial but not required.
Pay:
$25.00 - $35.00 per hour
