The Upper Division campus (Grades 9-12) is located in Pebble Beach. The Lower/Middle Divisions Campus (Grades PK-8) is in nearby Carmel-by-the-Sea. Stevenson is a mission-driven school that aims to help students shape joyful lives while instilling a passion for learning and achievement to prepare them for success in school and beyond. Stevenson School is seeking a Facilities - Grounds crew member to join our outstanding and dedicated facilities team with a start date of June 1, 2026. Reporting to the Building and Grounds Supervisor, the grounds crew member is responsible for maintaining the beauty, integrity, and professional appearance of the School's grounds, fields and sport venues. This is a full-time, 12-month per year, non-exempt position. Regularly scheduled hours will be Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Responsibilities:
Ensure overall proper working condition and safe appearance of all campus outdoor spaces, lighting, time-clocks, pedestrian pathways, parking lots, etc. Maintain/repair irrigation systems and landscape by planting flowers, grass, shrubs, potted plants, trees, etc. Maintain the artificial turf athletic fields and track. Follow directions for procedures for measuring, mixing, applying fertilizer, herbicides, pesticides and other chemicals as properly trained. Rake, mulch and apply fertilizer to enhance growth of plants. Remove excess dirt, trash and loose debris from assigned areas and transport to appropriate areas and receptacles. Safely use hand tools and power equipment, gas and electric, such as mowers, edgers, trimmers, tillers, leaf blowers, shovels, hoes, lawn marking equipment, etc. Maintain/repair hoses, supplies, tools and other equipment in excellent working condition. Assist in various school-related events (graduation, open house, etc.) and provide support with setting up and staffing of campus activities as required. Sweep and cleaning of walkways, vehicle roadways, and building facades. Maintain confidentiality regarding school/workplace matters. Respond quickly in the event of an emergency, notify appropriate personnel and follow safety protocol. Other related duties as assigned.Required Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent Minimum of two years prior grounds experience preferred Working knowledge and general familiarity with landscaping/irrigation trades Thorough knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions necessary for the safe use of equipment, such as leaf blowers, tractors, field groomers, battery operated carts, and power tools Ability to troubleshoot problems and implement corrective actions Ability to lift/push/pull up to 50 pounds unassisted Ability to follow written and oral instruction Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to connect with all members of the community and work cooperatively with others Demonstrated interest in being part of a collaborative team Commitment to being part of a diverse, equitable and inclusive school community The pay range for this position is $23 to $28 per hour, commensurate with experience.
