Description Responsibilities:
Meet performance standards established with the employee's manager: This involves adhering to job performance metrics set by the manager, which could include quality of work, timeliness, and other relevant criteria. Perform general maintenance and repairs to
Cemetery Grounds:
Regular upkeep and repairs of the cemetery grounds, ensuring they are well-maintained and presentable. Operate powered equipment such as mowers, trimmers, edgers, sod cutters, chain saws, etc.: Use and maintain various types of powered equipment for grounds maintenance tasks. Use hand tools such as shovels, rakes, clippers, saws, etc.: Utilize manual tools for tasks requiring precision or manual labor. May install and maintain sprinkler systems, perform landscape construction and maintenance: Involvement in installing and upkeep of sprinkler systems, as well as general landscape work including planting, pruning, and sodding. May assist in burials at grave sites: Provide assistance during burial ceremonies and maintain grave sites appropriately.
Perform other duties as assigned:
Additional tasks as directed by supervisors to support the operation and maintenance of the cemetery.
Requirements Qualifications:
One year of experience in a related field preferred: Previous work experience in groundskeeping, maintenance, or a similar role is beneficial.
Valid California Driver License:
Required for operating vehicles and equipment. Knowledge of maintenance equipment such as mowers, aerators, trimmers, etc.: Familiarity with various types of equipment used in grounds maintenance. Knowledge of sprinkler systems design and installation: Understanding of how sprinkler systems work and the ability to install and maintain them. Safety precautions associated with equipment operations: Awareness of safety protocols and practices when operating machinery. Interpersonal communication skills (ability to communicate verbally and in writing): Effective communication skills to interact with supervisors, colleagues, and the public. Ability to develop effective working relationships with supervisors and the public: Capacity to work well with others and maintain positive relationships. Physical Requirements Lifting and Carrying Ability to lift and carry up to 50-75 pounds frequently (e.g., sod, tools, equipment, headstones) Occasional lifting of heavier items with assistance Standing and Walking Prolonged periods of standing and walking, often over uneven ground and in varying weather conditions Bending, Kneeling, and Stooping Frequent bending, kneeling, crouching, and stooping to perform tasks such as planting, trimming, or marker maintenance Climbing Occasional climbing (e.g., steps, small ladders, or embankments) for landscape maintenance or tree work Pushing and Pulling Use of tools and equipment that require pushing, pulling, and gripping force (e.g., wheelbarrows, lawn equipment) Repetitive Motions Frequent repetitive hand and arm movements for raking, digging, pruning, or using powered landscaping tools Use of Equipment Operation of light to heavy equipment, such as mowers, trimmers, tractors, and occasionally backhoes Environmental Tolerance Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, rain, and sun Exposure to dust, pollen, insects, and noise Visual and Auditory Requirements Adequate vision and hearing to operate equipment safely and observe surroundings Other Requirements Ability to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) as required (e.g., gloves, safety glasses, ear protection) Capacity to follow verbal and written instructions and complete tasks independently or as part of a team What You'll Love About Us Top Workplaces 8 years in a row ('16, '17, '18, '19, '20, '21, '22, '23) Going Places.
