Job Summary Job Summary Hours:
6:30 am- 3:00 pm Perform gardening and grounds maintenance duties in the beautification of District grounds and athletic fields; maintain grounds and other assigned areas to ensure a safe, clean and attractive environment for students, staff and the public; groom, contour and prepare athletic and play fields.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Mow, edge, trim, and water lawns, fields and other turf grounds; edge walkways; hoe and pull weeds and rake leaves; sweep litter from walks, driveways and other assigned areas; maintain a safe environment for students, staff and the public.
- Plant, cultivate, prune, spray, fertilize and irrigate flowers, trees, grass, hedges and shrubs; water various grounds areas by hand or by operating the irrigation system as required.
- Perform general grounds cleanup, including picking up trimmings and plant debris from grounds areas, parking lots, playgrounds, culverts, stairways, athletic fields and other assigned areas.
- Perform a variety of grounds maintenance work in the preparation and maintenance of athletic and play fields and surrounding landscape; measure and mark with appropriate marking materials or equipment to delineate the area of play and restricting lines as prescribed and established by league and sport rules; drag, repair, prepare and maintain track and athletic fields; mow, maintain and repair grass, sod and scraped areas.
- Perform work in the installation, repair and maintenance of designated irrigation systems and related parts, components and equipment as assigned by the position; clean, adjust and repair sprinkler heads, valves and lines as needed; repair mains as needed; set watering schedules and set time clocks according to seasons, soil conditions, and water distribution rates.

Qualifications Education and Experience:
Any combination of training, education and experience which demonstrates possession of the knowledges and abilities stated above, and the ability to perform the duties of the position.Education:
Graduation from high school or equivalent.Experience:
Two years of grounds maintenance or landscaping experience. License(s), certifications or other requirements:- Valid California Class C driver's license.
PHYSICAL ELEMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS
Working Conditions:
- Outdoor work environment.
- Seasonal heat and cold or adverse weather conditions.
- Exposure to fumes, dust, odors, oil, grease and gases.
- Driving a vehicle to conduct work.
Physical Abilities:
- Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate grounds maintenance equipment.
- Walking or standing for extended periods of time.
- Seeing to perform gardening and grounds work.
- Lifting, carrying, pushing or pulling heavy objects as assigned by position.
- Bending at the waist, kneeling or crouching.
- Reaching overhead, above the shoulders and horizontally.
- Climbing ladders.
- Heavy physical labor.
Hazards:
- Exposure to chemicals used in pest control and weed abatement.
- Working around and with machinery having moving parts.
- Climbing ladders and working from heights.
- Drive a vehicle to conduct work.
