Job Description

Under the supervision and general direction of the Guest Services Manager - Safety & Operations, the Grounds Attendant performs duties related to the overall cleanliness of the Sacramento Zoo.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
Grounds Attendants are responsible for, but not limited to: Maintains overall cleanliness & tidiness of zoo grounds Cleaning and stocking restrooms Cleaning exterior of all exhibit glass Maintains cleanliness of viewing decks, benches, hand rails and signs Maintain playground cleanliness: Bark cleanup, ensuring that there is adequate bark under slides and at bases of play structures to provide a safe play environment Keeping the trash/recycling receptacles clean. Empty trash/recycle daily (Minimum) De-webbing exterior of structures Respond to and clean-up of biological hazards Report any broken and/or dangerous items to supervisor immediately Assist with event requests (Barricades/Stanchions/Additional trash/recycle receptacles) Keep walkways clear of leaves and debris Assist with off-site pick up of supplies (As requested) Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
One year previous experience with janitorial duties desired Experience with customer service Must maintain a valid California driver's license.
Abilities:
Understand and carry out written and oral instructions. Must be able to interact in a friendly and professional manner with the public and co-workers at all times. Perform light to heavy manual labor. Must be able to navigate Zoo grounds and work in inclement weather conditions year round. Must be able to work independently as well as with other team members. This is a part-time position, 8 hours/day, working Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday each week. The position is currently temporary through March 2027, but may be extended.
