Ranging from $100-120 per day, depending on experience About the Role We are seeking an experienced, creative, and enthusiastic Gardening & STEAM Instructor to lead an in-school enrichment program for Transitional Kindergarten students in San Francisco. This unique program combines hands-on gardening, STEAM exploration, and unplugged computer science activities to introduce young learners to science, nature, engineering, creativity, and early computational thinking through play-based, inquiry-driven learning. We're looking for an educator who can foster curiosity, nurture exploration, and create a joyful classroom environment where every child feels excited to discover something new. Responsibilities Lead engaging gardening lessons and outdoor learning experiences Facilitate hands-on STEAM projects, science experiments, and engineering challenges Introduce age-appropriate unplugged computer science concepts through games, storytelling, and movement Create a nurturing, safe, and engaging learning environment for TK students Adapt activities to support a variety of developmental and learning needs Prepare lesson materials and learning stations before each class Collaborate closely with school staff and program coordinators Maintain regular communication with the program team Submit brief class updates following each teaching day Requirements Experience teaching Transitional Kindergarten, Preschool, Kindergarten, or early elementary students is strongly preferred Teaching credential, Early Childhood Education (ECE) certification, Child Development Permit, or comparable teaching qualification is highly preferred Experience leading classroom instruction and managing groups of young children Passion for hands-on learning, gardening, and early childhood education Comfortable leading outdoor activities, STEAM lessons, and inquiry-based learning experiences Strong classroom management and communication skills Patient, nurturing, energetic, and dependable Must maintain clear, timely, and professional communication with the team Required to submit brief class updates following each teaching day Ability to commit to the Fall 2026 program schedule Preferred Qualifications Experience teaching gardening, environmental education, STEAM, or early childhood enrichment programs Familiarity with play-based, inquiry-based, or project-based learning Background in education, child development, environmental science, horticulture, or a related field Experience integrating early STEM or unplugged computer science concepts into classroom instruction Compensation & Schedule Approximately $110-120 per day Tuesdays & Thursdays (approx 4hrs per day) Fall 2026 school semester If you're passionate about early childhood education and love bringing science, nature, and hands-on exploration to life, we'd love to hear from you!
