AU-03 PRIMARY PURPOSE:
Help maintain the sport fields of all district schools in a condition of safety, neatness and aesthetic attractiveness QUALIFICATIONS
Education/Certification:
Ability to speak, read, and write English
High school graduate or GED preferred Special Knowledge/Skills:
Demonstrated aptitude for successful fulfillment of assigned responsibilities
Ability to lift and carry 45 lbs. without assistance
Must be able to operate edger/trimmer, string trimmer, push mower and riding mower
Must have knowledge of making correct measurements of sport field markings with little or no supervision
Must have and maintain a valid driver's license and be insurable MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
Maintains and cares for school sport fields and grounds as assigned by supervisor.
Performs manicured duties to produce an attractive appearance on sport field job sites.
Adjusts, repairs and maintains grounds care equipment.
Collects and disposes of leaves, grass clippings, paper, litter and refuse.
Mows athletic fields with push mower and power riding mower.
Complies with safety and hazardous materials laws and regulations in the performance of the job.
Attends meetings as required or directed by supervisor.
Works extra-curricular functions outside of regular assigned work schedule as requested to include but not limited to football, baseball, soccer and track field games.
Works outside of regular assigned work schedule to include night and/or weekend duty as requested.
Ensures vehicles, equipment, and tool boxes are locked and secure at all times while vehicle is left unattended.
Performs all duties in a safe manner to avoid injury to oneself and/or to others.
Performs other duties as assigned. EQUIPMENT USED
Shop equipment and tools:
Must be familiar with line markers, riding mowers and all lawn equipment, ladder, small hand tools (screwdrivers, wrenches, hammers, sockets, pliers, crimpers, wire cutters, etc.), hand saws, power tools, drills, jacks, lift equipment
Vehicle and related equipment:
Light van or truck seat belts, shoulder harnesses, safety equipment (flares, reflective signs), fire extinguisher, radio communication equipment WORKING CONDITIONS
Mental Demands:
Ability to concentrate, communicate effectively (verbal and written), interpret, reason, read, compute, instruct and maintain emotional control under stress; ability to handle several projects at the same time with frequent interruptions
Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:
