Job Description

Prepare City facilities, including ball fields, for community use, programs, and events. May be solely responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of assigned areas during the shift. Must be able to interact professionally with the public when necessary. Assist the PLM&O Staff in the operation and general maintenance of City Parks. Provide set-up and cleaning of facilities for practices, games, tournaments, and events. Assist the PLM&O Staff in set-up and strike of special events. Prepare turf area facilities for programs, community use and events. Responsible for the proper care of turf field maintenance to include grooming infields and sports fields for all programs. Ensure safe and proper use of tools and equipment. Provide general grounds maintenance for common areas, natural turf and artificial turf fields. Responsibilities include cleaning dugouts, removing trash from fields, surrounding areas, and assisting with any maintenance issues as they arise. Drive to and from various city work locations to set up or break down events. Clean trucks and equipment used in groundskeeper/landscaper maintenance duties. Perform other duties as needed when assigned by a crew leader or supervisor. Assist with Leisure Services Department projects and events assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
3 months experience with basic landscape maintenance equipment. Able to work any and all combinations of shift assignments, which includes evenings, weekends and be flexible to work any shift. Valid driver license. Must obtain Florida driver license within thirty (30) days of employment.
PREFERABLE QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or GED. Experience in ballfield care and maintenance. Horticultural experience to include knowledge of various plant materials, trees and annuals. Experience operating commercial landscape equipment. Experience with irrigation maintenance. Willingness to adopt AI and emerging technologies. Applicants will be required to complete a Disclosure & Authorization Regarding Background Investigation, a Confidentiality Agreement and a criminal background screening. Driving history for the past three (3) years must reflect no violations of a driving related felony offense, or driving under the influence (DUI) which includes both drugs and alcohol, reckless driving, or hit and run involving an occupied vehicle or attended property, or an accumulation of traffic violations, plus three (3) points for each attendance at driving school (regardless of whether points were assessed against the license) where the penalty points do not exceed twelve (12).
