Job Description

Building & Wildlife Woodsman Property Grounds Helper Normal Work Hours:
Monday•
Thursday:
7:30 AM•5:00 PM (30-minute lunch break)
Friday:
7:30 AM•12:00 PM The work schedule may be adjusted occasionally to accommodate seasonal duties, weather conditions, or special events. The employee is expected to adhere to the designated work schedule unless prior approval has been given to modify it. The employee will receive general direction and supervision from the Property Manager and specific instructions from property owners.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The Building & Grounds Maintenance Helper is responsible for the upkeep of designated grounds, buildings, and wooded areas. Duties include but are not limited to:
Landscaping and Grounds Maintenance:
Maintain all flower beds, potted plants, and landscaped areas by removing weeds, debris, and dead plants. Install new plants as needed. Mow, weed-eat, edge, and trim hedges and limbs in designated areas as instructed. Sweep garages and blow off walkways around the pavilion, porches, pool area, deck, and driveway to keep them free of grass clippings and debris. Clean and maintain all exterior areas of buildings, including washing porches, decks, and removing spider webs. Keep outdoor furniture and seating areas clean of dust, pollen, and debris. Check and empty all exterior trash cans and those in external buildings weekly or as needed. Sweep and maintain the interiors of external buildings, ensuring they are free from debris and spider webs.
Woodsman and Forestry Work:
Clear fallen trees and branches from wooded areas and trails. Assist with controlled and scheduled burns, ensuring safety procedures are followed. Safely operate chainsaws, pole saws, and other forestry equipment for cutting small trees and pruning limbs. Remove invasive plant species and maintain the health of forested areas. Stack, split, and transport firewood as needed. Assist with trail maintenance, ensuring paths are clear and safe for use.
Event Support and Seasonal Work:
Assist with the preparation and clean-up for special events. Perform seasonal tasks such as leaf removal, snow removal, or storm cleanup. Support additional building and grounds maintenance as required.
Safety Requirements:
Inspect all equipment before use and report any needed repairs or maintenance to the Property Manager. Follow all safety protocols related to equipment and vehicle use, including wearing appropriate safety gear. Operate equipment and vehicles only when properly trained and safety inspections are complete. Ensure safe practices during tree felling, branch removal, and controlled burns.
Work Environment:
Requires frequent physical effort, including lifting or moving weights up to 50 lbs, bending, walking, stooping, climbing, reaching, and operating machinery. Exposure to seasonal temperature extremes (heat, cold, damp) and various weather conditions. Noise exposure from mowers, chainsaws, and other equipment.

Qualifications:
High School Diploma/GED Acceptable 3-year Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) Familiarity with landscaping, groundskeeping, and some farm and forestry machinery Basic knowledge of tree care, forestry practices, and chainsaw operation
