Job Description

The Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR) , Park Maintenance and Recreation Services Division, is seeking motivated and experienced Senior Grounds Keepers! These full-time, permanent positions, located in various areas of Honolulu, involves supervising and assisting with the maintenance and upkeep of park facilities and surrounding grounds.
What You'll Do :
Supervise and perform grounds maintenance including mowing, trimming, watering, and cleaning parks, facilities, parking lots, and right-of-ways. Lead and oversee work crews including maintenance personnel and community service workers by assigning daily tasks and ensuring productivity. Operate and maintain vehicles and equipment to transport staff, supplies, and materials and perform basic upkeep. Train staff on maintenance and safety practices including proper use and care of tools and equipment. Inspect parks, facilities, equipment, and contractor-maintained areas to identify damage, vandalism, and needed repairs. Manage schedules and coordinate park usage including permits, reporting issues, and assisting with minor repairs. Perform other related duties as required.Special Work Requirements :
Work schedule may vary depending on the vacancy. May be required to work evenings, weekends and holidays. Will serve as a Disaster Response Worker during declared emergencies. EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT
Experience and/or training of sufficient scope and quality to show competence in the care and maintenance of grounds and landscaped areas.Must be able to:
Care for and grow shrubs, flowers, trees, and lawns. Use and maintain grounds maintenance tools and equipment. Plan, assign, and supervise the work of others. Give and follow clear oral and written instructions. Operate hand and power tools for grounds maintenance. Take care of plants, trees, and turf properly. Promote and enforce safe work practices.LICENSE REQUIREMENT
1) Valid Driver's License (Type 3) 2) Obtain and maintain from City Health Services, Hearing Conservation Program (HCP) test, prior to appointment.
