Job Description

Job Summary Under the supervision of the Parks Maintenance Workers and/or Township Supervisor, this seasonal, temporary position performs a variety of semi-skilled duties involved in the care and maintenance of the Warren Township parks, playground, open lands, skate park, athletic fields, and facilities. All duties are performed under direct supervision. This seasonal position is primarily for late-summer / fall clean up, including leaf collection and removal, and is anticipated to last no more than 2-3 months.
Typical Hours:
Monday-Friday, 7:00 AM - 3:00 PM. Some weekends/evenings are possible. Job Specifications Must be 16 years of age or older Experience with grounds maintenance equipment Valid driver's license strongly preferred First Aid/CPR certification preferred Essential Duties & Responsibilities Participate in a variety of maintenance and landscape duties Operate mowing equipment, hand and power tools such as a push mowers, edgers, line trimmers, blowers, etc., to perform grounds maintenance duties Operate light power-driven carts Prepare athletic fields per program specifications Clean grounds and park restrooms Paint park equipment and facilities as needed Collect and dispose of litter and trash from grounds and containers throughout park areas Assist with set-up and watering of grounds using pump irrigation system Inspect grounds and facilities for damage; report any damage Set up and break down tables, chairs, and equipment in facilities and shelters Assist in maintaining food pantry and cleaning supplies; restock as needed Perform other related duties as required under direct supervision Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Knowledge of basic methods, materials, tools, and standard practices regarding grounds maintenance Ability to perform duties in compliance with OSHA and Township health and safety standards and protocols Skill in the operation and use of various types of ground maintenance equipment Ability to effectively communicate, understand instructions, and follow directions Ability to work effectively with changes in work priorities Ability to complete projects according to deadlines Ability to establish effective working relationships with co-workers and the general public Working Conditions This position operates indoors and outdoors in activity fields, parks, and playgrounds. Working conditions may include different types of lighting, temperatures, and weather conditions. Noise levels can range from quiet to loud.
