Seasonal Landscape/Gardener/Laborer

Job Overview Join our team as a Seasonal Landscape/Gardener/Laborer at the Activity and Recreation Center (ARC). We are looking for an energetic individual to help maintain and transform our outdoor spaces. This role is unique because you won't just be maintaining existing lawns; you will have the opportunity to work with blank planting spaces to help design and create new, vibrant garden areas for our members to enjoy. This position offers a flexible schedule with an expected commitment of up to 10 hours per week during the spring and summer seasons. About the ARC The ARC is a centerpiece of Normal Township, providing a modern, friendly atmosphere for citizens aged 55+. Our grounds are essential to our mission of providing a serene environment for socialization and wellness.

Responsibilities New Planting Projects:

Utilize available blank spaces to assist in the layout, soil preparation, and planting of new gardens and greenery.

Estate Maintenance:

Perform routine pruning, mowing, and general lawn care to keep the ARC grounds in top condition.

Logistics & Supplies:

To pick up and transport plants, mulch, and other landscaping supplies: personal vehicle use with mileage reimbursement when necessary

Tool Management:

Utilize personal and provided tools to execute daily beautification tasks.

Aesthetic Upkeep:

Perform mulching, edging, and weed control to ensure high-quality visual appeal for our 40,000-square-foot facility.

Qualifications Tool Ownership:

Candidates must provide their own basic landscaping hand tools (e.g., shovels, rakes, pruners, hoes) in good working condition.

Driving Requirements:

Must have a valid driver's license and your own vehicle

Gardening Interest:

Prior knowledge of horticulture or a strong interest in "blank slate" planting and garden design is highly desirable.

Physical Stamina:

Ability to perform outdoor labor in various weather conditions.

Independence:

Pay:

$18.00 - $20.00 per hour
