Job Summary:
Grounds Technicians must maintain the campus grounds in accordance with the Grounds Standards Manual. Strives to reflect the Facilities mission of Friendliness, Cleanliness, Safety & Service. Will have regular performance assessments. Grounds Technicians will follow and abide by safety rules and regulations. Must be proficient at using a variety of tools including hand tools such as shovels, rakes, and pruners, as well as power tools such as blowers, weed eaters, sidewalk edger, push mower, and riding mower. Must be able to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when necessary or required. Must be able to respond to a variety of service requests and should expect other duties as assigned.
Essential Functions:
oRegularly walking long distances o Climbing Stairs without assistance o Must climb stairs while carrying something o Regularly lifting and carrying 50 lbs. o Pushing and pulling machines weighing 50 lbs. o Ability to reach and lift things overhead o Possess dexterity o Possess the ability to grip things 45# minimum o Working in heat and cold regularly o Climb ladders regularly o Follow and abide by all safety rules and regulations; o Other duties as assigned o Able to work with small group (other Grounds staff) o Able to work alone with minimal supervision
Supervisory Responsibility:
General supervision is received from the Grounds Supervisor. May possibly exercise supervision over student workers.
Education and Experience:
  • Excellent verbal and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to adapt to quickly changing environments.
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking skills.
Environment:
This job functions in an environment in which job tasks involve occupational exposure to blood, body fluids or tissue - Category I.
