Job Description
Landscape Technician Garden Gnome Plantscapes New Orleans, LA Job Details Full-time $20 - $30 an hour 4 hours ago Benefits Paid training Employee discount Professional development assistance Flexible schedule Tools provided Qualifications Outdoor work experience Pruning (plant care) Habitat improvement Wildlife habitats Native plants Full Job Description Garden Gnome Plantscapes is seeking a new team member as of August 2026. We look forward to your application. We are looking for a full-time landscape professional to join our team of individuals who love plants and care about beautifying New Orleans. Ideally this will be a long-term relationship, and you can grow your career with the company. We work mostly uptown between the Lower Garden District and Audubon neighborhoods, plus Marigny/Bywater, Bayou St. John, Gentilly, and Old Metairie. Typical daily tasks include routine weeding, planting, pruning, lawn care, and debris cleanup as well as larger installation and renovation jobs. We maintain and create classical and contemporary gardens, with a focus on creating beauty for humans as well as habitat for native plants and wildlife. You must be able to work outside in the heat, lift heavy things, use sharp tools safely, and not be afraid of getting dirty or poked by thorns. Your work will be held to a very high level of perfection. This position is for people who want to learn about a lot of different topics, and who might enjoy looking at plants and listening to the birds all day. We work year round, usually Monday-Friday about 9am-5pm. Pay starts at $20/hr on biweekly payroll, with $0.50 raise after a three-month training period and after each year on the team following successful performance reviews. Professional licenses and training are paid for, and a $2 raise goes to employees who hold their Landscape Horticulturist license. Individuals who hold additional horticulture-related licenses in Louisiana (arborist, irrigation contractor, pesticide applicator, etc. as well as Louisiana Native Plant Professional certification) are eligible for additional wage increases. We provide tools, uniforms, and protective equipment at no cost to employees. You will need your own transportation to job sites. Schedules can be largely self-driven after the training period. Previous experience in the nursery or landscape industry is highly preferred. Education of any type is a bonus but not required. To submit your application, please send an email including the following to: garden.gnome.plantscapes @ gmail.com (remove spaces) 1. A formal cover letter explaining your qualifications and interest (a separate document, not just a paragraph in an email) 2. Your current resume, and 3. Three professional and/or garden references. After you email your application materials, send a text message with your name to Caleb at (504) 266-1664, saying that you applied. Applicants who do not follow this procedure will not be considered. This position is open immediately. Garden Gnome Plantscapes is an equal opportunity employer and we see all coworkers as valuable members of our team.
