Higher pay for those will availability and interest in continued employment. A private club in Ann Arbor is seeking experienced employees to fill positions for Grounds and Maintenance team. The ideal candidate has experience working on a landscaping team, facilities management, private or country club, janitorial, and a variety of skills aligning with this type of role. The job will be best suited to someone who is handy in a variety of areas and is knowledgeable in the areas listed. This position begins in April each season and will end in September or potentially until November for post season closing. High consideration for those interested in committing to returning for multiple seasons if possible. Hours are flexible, but must be available some weekends, major summer holidays; Memorial Day, July 4th and Labor Day.
Must Have Skills:
Strong work ethic
  • Be on time, pass background check, presentable, and organized. Safety oriented
  • Correct use of equipment and follow health and safety practices. Able to work on a schedule
  • Ability to gauge the importance of tasks and to follow the schedule of tasks given. Personable
  • Get along with others and have the ability to work in a team. Ability to present well in appearance and be professional with other employees and with the members. Proper knowledge and use of tools
  • including replacements, care and storage. Proper lawn and grounds care
  • including grass cutting, weed whip, blowers, tree trimming, recognizing the small details. Equipment maintenance and use
  • operation of all related equipment; Janitorial experience
  • Ability to clean locker rooms and other areas properly and stock supplies on a regular basis. Ability to use the utmost care and follow health and safety procedures with the handling of chemicals. Ability to complete jobs correctly
  • All related jobs must be done with care and the objective of serving the club and its members.
Preferred, But Not Required:
Irrigation
  • Ability to run and repair sprinkler systems including heads, valves and power systems General Handyman skills
  • Best knowledge of most things needing repair or replacement in this type of environment, i.e. powered equipment, lights, painting, etc. General trade skills
  • Some HVAC and plumbing skills. Basics such as filter replacements and valves and seals. General maintenance on commercial equipment such as refrigeration and freezers. CPO Certified or experience with swimming pools
  • Knowledge and understanding of aquatics, including pool chemistry, vacuum operations and repairs, filtration systems.. CDL
  • Commercial driver's license. Handy if operation of bobcat or other equipment is necessary Tennis court experience
  • Both hard and clay courts.
Setting posts and nets. Proper adjustments and cleaning. Har-Tru Clay Courts will be the primary job of the position and will need extensive training in this area. Any knowledge and previous experience is helpful.
