Job Description
Job Summary Crystal Mountain seeks a motivated Apprentice who is eager to grow and advance in the golf course and resort industry. This role offers valuable career development through guidance from experienced agronomy and management professionals. The ideal candidate is self-motivated, positive, communicative, creative, and detail oriented. We offer year-round employment on both the golf course maintenance and snow removal teams. The Apprentice is encouraged to participate in daily golf course cultural practices and operations, with an emphasis on irrigation system maintenance and repair. The Apprentice works closely with the Superintendent, Assistant Superintendents, Equipment Manager, and golf course maintenance team. Individuals who actively contribute to this collaborative environment will gain valuable experience in a first-class workplace. Candidates should be goal- and detail-oriented, enthusiastic about teamwork, and effective communicators. With 36 holes and a dedicated learning and practice facility to maintain, the Apprentice will participate in all aspects of golf course maintenance. Job Duties and Responsibilities Maintain and repair irrigation systems, including valves, sprinkler heads, control solenoids, and related satellite components. Trim and level sprinkler heads. Install and repair irrigation lines. Assist with daily golf course maintenance as assigned. Operate and help maintain chemical application equipment. Accurately document spray application details. Follow management direction and training to perform detailed work that supports high-quality course conditions. Use mowers, blowers, bunker-raking equipment, and landscaping hand tools to maintain golf course turf. Properly use and maintain equipment and supplies while supporting continuous improvements in workplace safety and environmental practices. Assist with golf course projects, including construction and seeding of new greens, tees, fairways, and rough areas.

Job Specifications Competencies:
Knowledge of irrigation equipment, including hand and power tools. Ability to interpret irrigation site maps and legends. Basic knowledge of selected herbicides, fungicides, insecticides, turfgrass pests, and appropriate control methods. Ability to follow chemical labels and wear appropriate personal protective equipment during each application to protect employees, others, and the environment. Math skills needed to calibrate spray equipment and apply products accurately. Knowledge of liquid-volume and area-measurement conversions. Ability to perform all duties safely and efficiently. Clear, concise verbal communication skills. Ability to work independently and manage time effectively. Dependable and committed to achieving goals. Demonstrates professional conduct and consistently upholds the company's core values.Physical & Other Requirements:
Obtain and maintain a Michigan pesticide applicator license for categories 3A (turfgrass) and 5 (aquatic pest management). Maintain a valid driver's license and a clean motor vehicle record. Ability to lift at least 50 pounds and perform tasks requiring a full range of motion. Ability to bend, stoop, and twist repeatedly throughout the workday. Ability to work outdoors for extended periods in all weather conditions. Availability to work weekends, some evenings, and holidays as part of the regular schedule.
