This is a variable hour position expected to work 30-40 hours per week, now through mid-October 2026, depending on weather and field schedule. Maintain the playing surface by mowing, edging, fertilizing grass playing surface areas, maintaining skinned surfaces and edge areas. Repair and maintain the game mound, home plate area, and bullpen mounds. Tarp the field, top dressing, aerating, and general turf maintenance. Assist with irrigation system monitoring and watering of the field as directed. Maintain grass areas outside the playing surface by mowing, trimming, and edging. Safely operate equipment such as 1 ton pickup with a dump box, mowers, trimmers, sod cutters, compactor, powered and non-powered hand tools, field liner, sprayer, blower, drags and sand pro. Prepare the field completely for gamedays (mow, paint, pack, chalk, drag, bases, etc.). Perform weed control, remove debris and garbage, report/correct vandalism. Perform light carpentry repairs to field, fencing, dugouts, bleachers, etc. Have excellent organizational & communication skills and a high level of energy, enthusiasm, and a passion to be successful in the sports industry. Be able to assess conditions, operate independently and complete tasks without supervision. Assist in other grounds related projects as needed. (i.e. forestry, horticulture, playgrounds and other amenities). Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Focus on details and commitment to doing a good job required. Experience in field maintenance, painting, and repair. Experience grounds maintenance, cleaning in a commercial setting preferred. Ability to get along with district employees and be courteous and helpful with students and general public. Ability to stand and/or walk, twist, bend, stoop, squat, and/or climb stairs. Ability to lift up to 40 pounds. Ability to work in a variety of conditions and environments (e.g. dusty, wet, cold, hot, high humidity, noisy, indoors, outdoors, at heights, and in small spaces).
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous experience with outdoor field grounds maintenance. Mechanical experience with outdoor maintenance equipment. Familiarity and comfortable with the operation of grounds and landscaping equipment and tools.
Pay:
$20.00 per hour. This role is eligible for Earned Sick and Safe time at a rate of 1 hour for every 30 hours worked.
