Position Summary
GROUNDSKEEPER
Facilities Management Full Time Starting Wage:
$17.23 per hour Primary Responsibilities Perform general landscaping and grounds maintenance work, including mowing and applying mulch Assist in the application of fertilizer, herbicide/pesticide treatments Trim and prune plants at heights above ground level Perform maintenance, including patching and repairing to University sidewalks, streets and parking lots Assist with event support Perform snow and ice removal Operate and maintain lawn tractors, chain saws, and other lawn equipment Provide leadership to student and temporary workers Assist other trades or classifications when necessary Maintain a valid driver's license Required Qualifications High school diploma or GED Demonstrable work history reflecting reliability and dependability Possess a valid driver's license Ability to work in inclement weather, including emergencies and snow removal, and live within 30 minutes travel time from the University Demonstrable knowledge in grounds maintenance Ability to use and experience with standard landscaping and grounds maintenance tools, machines, and equipment Demonstrable knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions in an institutional setting Ability to perform heavy work and lift up to 50 pounds and to work at heights up to 60 ft. that exist on campus with or without accommodations Ability to stoop, bend, stretch, reach, kneel, sit, or climb frequently and for extended periods of time while performing job duties Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and perform duties with minimal supervision Demonstrated experience and understanding of customer service
