GROUNDS MAINTENANCE WORKER

White Sands Missile Range (WSMR), NM

Full-Time

Schedule:

Monday-Friday, 6:00 AM-2:30 PM

Wage:

$17.75 per hour Position Summary Under supervision, the Grounds Maintenance Worker performs a variety of grounds maintenance duties required to meet the established grounds maintenance schedule, contract requirements, and quality standards at White Sands Missile Range. The successful candidate will assist in maintaining improved grounds, desert landscapes, sidewalks, driveways, curbs, and other designated areas in a clean, safe, neat, and professional condition. Qualifications Education High School Diploma or GED required. Experience Minimum of 3 years of experience in grounds maintenance. Experience with irrigation systems. Experience operating tractors, mowers, and other grounds maintenance equipment. Licenses/Certifications Valid Driver's License required. Driving is required for this position. Background & Security Requirements This position is subject to federal and company-required background and security screening, which may include: Office of Inspector General/CMMS Exclusions List check

Essential FunctionsJob-Specific Duties The Grounds Maintenance Worker will: Perform grounds maintenance duties in accordance with contract schedules, requirements, and established standards, including: Mow all improved grounds to maintain a well-manicured appearance. Edge sidewalks, driveways, street edges, curbs, and other hard-surfaced areas within improved grounds. Trim areas that are not accessible to mowing equipment. Remove debris, including general litter and natural debris. Police and inspect grounds to maintain a neat, clean, and professional appearance. Maintain desert landscaping in a clean and orderly manner. Perform weed control as required. Operate grounds maintenance equipment safely and appropriately, including mowers, tractors, and related equipment. Assist with irrigation system maintenance and other grounds-related tasks as assigned. Follow all applicable safety procedures and contract requirements while performing assigned duties. Accept and complete special projects and other duties as assigned by the supervisor. Company-Specific Requirements The employee is expected to: Adhere to the company dress code. Attend all mandatory training sessions and staff meetings. Represent Tresco in a positive and professional manner and establish and maintain professional relationships that support the organization's mission. Comply with all organizational policies, procedures, and ethical business practices. Communicate and support the mission, ethics, and goals of the organization. Maintain all required licenses and certifications applicable to the position. Consistently follow departmental and company Health, Safety, Security, and Hazardous Materials policies and procedures, including applicable OSHA, SDS, HIPAA, and Workers' Compensation requirements. Carry a work phone while on duty and respond to work-related calls, text messages, and emails in a timely manner. Operate a company-owned or personal vehicle on behalf of the company when required. Company-owned vehicles must be kept clean and properly maintained. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities The successful candidate should have: Proficient English oral and written communication skills. Knowledge of general grounds maintenance practices and procedures. Ability to safely operate grounds maintenance equipment. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Ability to work effectively as part of a team. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions. Ability to prioritize and complete assigned tasks according to established schedules and standards. Ability to work outdoors and perform physically demanding grounds maintenance duties. Ability to work effectively under stressful or changing conditions. Strong attention to safety, cleanliness, and detail. Physical & Work Environment This position requires working outdoors and may involve exposure to varying weather conditions, including heat, wind, dust, and other environmental conditions. The employee may be required to stand, walk, bend, stoop, lift, carry, push, pull, and operate grounds maintenance equipment for extended periods. Employees are expected to follow all required safety procedures and use appropriate personal protective equipment when performing assigned duties.
