Job Description

Overview Are you a fan of watching Gardener's World, long to visit Longwood Gardens, and not afraid of a leaking faucet or a clogged toilet? Then this might be the job for you! We are looking for someone to help keep our historic inn looking and running well, so that we can delight our customers and visitors. The grounds cover 6 acres of lawns, forest, and gardens which over the years have been designed to include a variety of specialized spaces, such as an organic vegetable garden and a cutting flower garden. The buildings include a main inn, a carriage house guest room building, and a cottage. There are a total of 16 guest rooms. The majority of the work is groundskeeping/gardening with the occasional maintenance task. Garden tasks include, but not limited to: Trimming/Pruning Weeding Planting new plants Watering Spreading compost/mulch Raking leaves Groundskeeping/Maintenance tasks could include, but not limited to: Simple plumbing and building repairs Handling recycling and trash bin filling for weekly pick up Setting up summer furniture and keeping them clean Opening up bathrooms after winter shutdown Clearing snow from pathways in the winter Knowledge of plants and organic gardening practices is desirable and a sincere interest in gardening is important, as well as skill with gardening power tools, snow blowers, and other equipment relating to gardening, grounds keeping, and maintenance. Pay:
From $18.00 per hour Expected hours: 10.0 - 30.0 per week
