Job Description

Bloom Fine Gardening is an established New Paltz-based landscape design and fine gardening company. We are seeking a Horticulture Crew Leader Professional for our garden care team. The ideal candidate will have full-time availability (Monday
  • Friday) and 3-5 years of past leadership experience working for a landscape or gardening company and or a background in horticulture and or landscape design.
The ability to work well and lead others is necessary for success in this position. This is a full time seasonal position that requires the candidate to lead while working hands on with team members in the field.

Job Requirements:
  • Minimum of three years of experience in landscape maintenance and/or fine gardening leading others.
  • Able to supervise gardening team members while working along side them.
  • Able to effectively oversee the training of their gardening team members.
  • Possess a valid driver's license and must be insurable on company's insurance policy.
  • Legal documentation to verify employment eligibility.
  • Physically able to handle the workload of a Fine Gardening Crew Leader.
  • Able to represent the company in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Must be available for full time employment Monday-Friday from Mid March
  • early December. The Fine Gardening Crew Leader must possess the following skill set:
  • Able to motivate crew members to safely achieve daily production goals.
  • Fine gardening crews install and care for woody, perennial, and annual plant material, etc.
  • Ensure properties and sites are kept clean and free of debris.
  • Continually informs and updates immediate supervisor as to progress on accounts.
  • Ensures that all accounts are kept on schedule and on budget.
  • Ensures that all safety procedures are followed and reports any unsafe conditions to supervisors.
  • Ensures all work related injuries and accidents are properly documented and reported immediately.
  • Interfaces with their direct supervisor to ensure timely and accurate delivery of job materials.
  • Ensures that company production standards are met.
  • Ensures that all equipment is operated in a safe and proper manner.
  • Ensures that all equipment is maintained properly and preventatively maintained daily.
  • Evaluates equipment utilization and recommends future purchases to their supervisor
  • Ensures that vendor delivery tickets and all paperwork are processed and turned in daily to office personnel.
  • Ensures that job cost reports are properly reported and documented.
  • Thoroughly understands and complies with company policies, procedures, and SOPs. Assists in the development and implementation of the production part of company's training goals. Evaluates performance of Fine Gardening crews. Qualifications and Skills
  • Absolutely, must have a passion and interest in Fine Gardening/Landscapes. Experience preferred.
  • Must be capable of meticulous, detail oriented work.
  • Highly motivated with a strong work ethic, positive attitude and willingness to learn.
  • Must be prompt and have own, reliable transportation to our office. Transportation provided to our worksites. Valid Driver's License required.
  • Experienced and knowledgeable of annuals, perennials, shrubs, and trees of the northeast.
  • Knowledge of proper pruning practices to woody plants.
  • Able to identify weeds in landscape settings.
  • Ability to setup and install landscape planters.
  • Ability to identify disease and pests in landscapes.
  • Operate hand tools including backpack blowers, weed whacker, hedge trimmer, rakes, shovels, tarps, hand saws.
  • Working knowledge of drip irrigation systems.
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs. and work outdoors in strenuous conditions; Heat and Cold.
  • Must be physically fit and in excellent health.
