Urban Fine Gardening Crew Member Responsibilities:
Perform fine gardening and horticultural tasks such as planting, weeding, mulching, pruning, and creating seasonal container and in-ground gardens. Training provided. Perform installations, upgrades, and maintenance of new and existing gardens. Complete daily organizational tasks for nursery and van storage; maintain tools and vehicles in clean, working order. Navigate through various parts of the city via company van to provide service to residential and commercial clients to create and maintain beautiful gardens. Perform irrigation installation and repairs. Training provided.
Qualifications:
Shares passion for plants and enjoys creating garden spaces. Must have a drivers license with a clean driving record. Strong work ethic, positive attitude, friendly demeanor, clean appearance, and willingness to learn new skills. Must be organized and take accountability for all facets of the work day and completing all scheduled jobs. Light construction skills a plus. Current resume and 2 references are required.
Physical Requirements:
Be able to work outdoors in all types of weather in all seasons. Be able to lift and move 30 pounds consistently during the course of a regular work day. Physically able to move through and work in various spaces unencumbered - up stairs, through tight spaces, on roof decks and balconies, up & down in lifts, etc. Other physical abilities include performing repetitive tasks, use of hand tools and keen attention to detail. During potential Covid-19 city restrictions we ask that you observe the following: Wearing personal protective equipment is required. Maintain social distancing guidelines Follow sanitizing, disinfecting, and cleaning procedures. Days begin and end at our South Philadelphia warehouse or nursery. Staff must arrive on time daily at the designated location. This is a seasonal, full time, hourly job beginning at 7:30 or 8:00 AM. Free all day parking is available, public transportation nearby includes the 7, 17, 29 & 64 Septa buses. $19/hr starting pay, with consideration for commensurate experience.
