Job Description
Job Overview This opening is for a part-time groundskeeper to maintain, preserve and improve the grounds in the morning daily or every other day at a historic residential home in the North Main area of Greenville SC. The ideal person for this role is a trustworthy and responsible individual with excellent communication and knowledge of grounds maintenance and outdoor spaces to ensure that our grounds are well-kept, healthy, and visually appealing. This position is great for someone who enjoys hands-on work and attention to detail, to contribute to the welcoming feeling of a historic home. Responsibilities Perform routine landscape maintenance including mowing, edging, pruning, and planting to keep grounds vibrant and healthy Operate ground maintenance equipment such as lawn mowers, hedge trimmers, chainsaws, power tools, and irrigation systems safely and efficiently Maintain grounds by fertilizing, overseeding, and managing turf health using specialized techniques Manage irrigation systems to ensure proper watering schedules; troubleshoot issues with sprinklers and timers Conduct pest management activities following safety protocols; apply pesticides and herbicides responsibly when necessary Clean debris from the grounds, clear any drains and blow or sweep hard surfaces and keep other areas free of debris Maintain cleanliness of pools, hot tubs and fountains, testing water weekly and applying chemicals as needed Coordinate and manage delivery and application of any materials like mulch and soil, and ensure its proper application Perform routine equipment maintenance to ensure all gates and equipment operate effectively and safely Experience Prior experience in groundskeeping, landscape maintenance, or athletic field care is preferred but not required; training will be provided for the right candidate Familiarity with irrigation systems management and troubleshooting is advantageous Knowledge of pesticide management protocols and safety procedures is a plus, however training can be provided Ability to operate various grounds maintenance equipment including power tools such as chainsaws and lawnmowers confidently Basic understanding of horticulture principles related to lawn care, gardening, landscaping, and plant health management Commitment to safety standards related to power tool operation and equipment maintenance This paid part-time position offers an engaging outdoor work environment where your skills directly contribute to the beauty and functionality of our grounds.
