The Town of Addison Parks Department is looking for two (2) Groundskeeper I or II's based on qualifications. Under general supervision, performs routine manual labor tasks in support of the activities and operations of the Parks Department. Groundskeeper I Uses manual equipment such as shovels, hoes, rakes and hand saws to perform general grounds maintenance to include digging, raking, leveling, planting, fertilizing, spraying pesticides, and pruning flowers, trees, and shrubs. Drives pick-up trucks, tractors, and other motor vehicles with heavy equipment attached; operates professional type mowers, spray equipment, push mowers, weed-eaters, edgers, chain saws, and other equipment. Cleans and maintains equipment. May be asked to perform additional job duties that are directly, indirectly or completely unrelated to normal job functions in the course of presenting certain Town special events. Performs related duties as required or assigned. Groundskeeper II Uses manual equipment such as shovels, hoes, rakes and hand saws to perform general grounds maintenance including digging, raking, leveling, planting, fertilizing, spraying pesticides and pruning trees and shrubs. Drives pick-up trucks, tractors and other motor vehicles with heavy equipment attached; operates professional type spray equipment, push mowers, weed-eaters, edgers, chain saws and other equipment. Cleans and maintains equipment. Responsible to learn and follow all safety rules, regulations and requirements. May be asked to perform additional job duties that are directly, indirectly or completely unrelated to normal job functions in the course of presenting certain Town special events. Performs related duties as required or assigned.

Groundskeeper I Education and Experience:

Highschool diploma or GED equivalent preferred; AND On (1) year of landscape maintenance experience and experience operating light equipment used in maintenance is preferred; OR An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Conditions of Employment:

Safe driving record and valid Texas Driver's License. Clear Criminal Background check and pre-employment drug screen.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge of work safety policies, procedures, and protocols. Knowledge of materials and tools used to perform landscape maintenance. Skilled in operating various hand and power tools in accordance with safety practices and procedures. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships. Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.

Groundskeeper II Education and Experience:

Highschool diploma or GED equivalent preferred; AND Two (2) years of landscape maintenance experience; experience operating light equipment used in maintenance is required, demonstrated ability to identify various plants and weeds is required; OR An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. One of the following certifications is preferred: Texas Certified Landscape Professional (TCLP), Texas Certified Nursery Professional (TCNP), Texas Water Smart Certification (TWSCP), Texas Department of Agriculture Non-Commercial Pesticide Applicator License (TDA).

Conditions of Employment:

PHYSICAL AND WORK ENVIRONMENT

Work is performed outdoors in all weather conditions and requires moderate physical exertion and exposure to dangerous tools and equipment and hazardous chemicals and pesticides. This is a nonexempt position. Routine schedule is 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday. Schedule may be modified if department needs arise. May be required to work overtime if needed.
